Tfl Chooses Mast Safety For Smsts Training

Transport for London Managers Complete SMSTS Training with Mast Safety

04 March 2026 |

This month we were pleased to welcome a group of site managers from Transport for London (TfL) to our training centre in Hainault to complete their Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.

The course had been block booked by TfL, with delegates travelling from across the region – including as far as Surrey – to attend the training. The programme forms part of their ongoing commitment to ensuring site managers maintain the highest standards of safety leadership and compliance on construction and infrastructure projects.

At Mast Safety, we regularly work with organisations operating in high-risk environments where strong health and safety management is essential. Major infrastructure clients such as TfL rely on competent site managers who understand both their legal responsibilities and the practical steps required to maintain safe working environments.

Our training courses continue to receive 100% five-star feedback from delegates, reflecting the experience of our trainers and the practical, engaging approach we take to construction health and safety training.

What Is the SMSTS Course?

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is one of the most widely recognised health and safety qualifications for construction site managers. The course is designed for those responsible for planning, organising, monitoring and controlling construction site activities, helping them understand the legislation, responsibilities and practical controls required to manage a safe and compliant workplace.

During the course, delegates gain a clear understanding of:

  • Current health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Risk assessment and hazard control
  • Site management responsibilities
  • Best practice for maintaining safe working environments
  • How to communicate safety expectations to site teams

Successful delegates receive an SMSTS certificate valid for five years, demonstrating their ability to manage health and safety on construction projects.

Trusted by Construction and Infrastructure Organisations

Training plays a critical role in maintaining high standards across the construction industry. Organisations responsible for large and complex projects need site managers who are confident in applying health and safety legislation and leading safe working practices on site.

Seeing teams from major organisations such as Transport for London attending our courses highlights the importance placed on quality training and competent safety leadership across the industry.
