Stanmore College Redevelopment – Health & Safety Support

03 February 2026 |

Mast Safety is proud to be supporting works at Stanmore College, as part of a major redevelopment project being delivered by Bouygues UK.

Our client, Rise Building Services, is operating as a subcontractor on this complex live education project. Mast Safety is providing ongoing Health & Safety consultancy support to help ensure works are carried out safely, compliantly, and with minimal disruption to students, staff, and the wider college community.

A Major Live Education Environment

The £60 million redevelopment will transform the Stanmore College campus into a modern, sustainable further education facility, delivered in carefully managed phases while the college remains fully operational.

Working within an active educational setting presents unique Health & Safety challenges, including:

  • Managing contractor activity alongside students and staff
  • Controlling access, segregation, and interfaces within live areas
  • Maintaining high standards of compliance across a multi-contractor environment
  • Ensuring consistent site standards throughout a long-term, phased programme

Mast Safety’s role is to support Rise Building Services in navigating these challenges through proactive on-site engagement and practical, construction-focused advice.

Mast Safety’s Role on the Project

Mast Safety plays a critical assurance role in the delivery of this project, acting as an independent Health & Safety authority to ensure works are planned, executed, and managed in full compliance with CDM Regulations and best-practice standards expected on a large-scale live education environment.

Working in close coordination with Rise Building Services, Mast Safety provides continuous oversight, governance, and practical intervention, helping to control risk, maintain legal compliance, and protect all duty holders throughout the construction phase.

Our role includes:

  • Proactive, on-site Health & Safety leadership, providing real-time guidance to prevent unsafe practices before they escalate into incidents or delays
  • Implementation and management of robust Health & Safety management systems, ensuring documentation, processes, and site controls remain aligned with live construction risks
  • Targeted Health & Safety training and competency management, ensuring site personnel meet statutory requirements and are equipped to operate safely within a high-risk environment
  • Independent site auditing and compliance assurance, identifying deficiencies, enforcing corrective actions, and verifying that control measures remain effective as works progress

This structured, hands-on approach enables Mast Safety to actively reduce risk, support programme certainty, and safeguard all parties’ legal responsibilities, ensuring the project is delivered safely, compliantly, and without avoidable disruption.

Supporting Safe Delivery in Education Construction

Education redevelopment projects demand a careful balance between progress, safety, and continuity of learning. By working closely with Rise Building Services, Mast Safety is helping to embed strong Health & Safety standards throughout the construction phase, supporting a safe working environment for contractors while protecting students, staff, and visitors.

This project demonstrates Mast Safety’s experience supporting subcontractors on large, principal-contractor-led schemes, particularly within sensitive, live environments such as further education campuses.
