CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SSSTS-R)

SSSTS Refresher Training for Construction Site Supervisors

1-day course | Classroom | Renews certificate for 5 years

The CITB SSSTS Refresher (SSSTS-R) course is designed for site supervisors who already hold a valid SSSTS certificate and need to renew it before expiry. Delivered over one focused day, the course updates delegates on changes in legislation, current industry guidance, and best practice for supervising work safely on construction sites.

The refresher reinforces key responsibilities while ensuring supervisors remain compliant, confident and effective in their role. Completing the SSSTS-R renews the qualification for a further five years, avoiding the need to retake the full two-day SSSTS course.

Who Is the SSSTS Refresher Course For?

This course is suitable for:

  • Site supervisors with an in-date SSSTS certificate
  • Team leaders, gangers and foremen whose certificate is nearing expiry
  • Employers maintaining compliant supervisory teams
  • Supervisors needing to meet contractor or client competency requirements

Important:
If your SSSTS certificate has already expired, CITB requires you to complete the full SSSTS course again rather than the refresher.

What the SSSTS-R Course Covers

The SSSTS Refresher focuses on updating and reinforcing essential supervisory knowledge, including:

  • Updates to health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation

  • Reinforcing the effective use of risk assessments and method statements
  • Monitoring site activities and addressing unsafe behaviour
  • Communicating safety requirements clearly to operatives

The course encourages discussion and reflection, allowing delegates to relate updates directly to their own sites and supervisory responsibilities.
