ASIST Suicide Intervention Training
ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a highly respected, two-day workshop designed to help people recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide and respond with confidence, care and clarity.
This practical, skills-based course focuses on intervention — empowering participants to have direct, life-preserving conversations and help individuals move towards safety and ongoing support.
ASIST is internationally recognised and is delivered by Mast Safety in line with LivingWorks’ evidence-based model.
Who should attend ASIST?
ASIST is suitable for individuals who may encounter suicide risk in professional or personal settings, including:
- Managers and supervisors
- Construction and site-based leaders
- Health & safety professionals
- First responders
- HR, welfare and support staff
- Anyone who wants to be better prepared to help
No previous mental health training is required.
What the ASIST course covers
Through guided discussion, real-world scenarios and skills practice, learners will:
- Recognise indicators of suicide risk
- Understand why people experience suicidal thoughts
- Respond confidently to direct and indirect requests for help
- Learn how to assess immediate risk
- Develop and apply effective safety plans
- Support individuals towards professional help
- Understand self-care and personal limits
